Meet Kayla Powers, a Santa Fe-based artist and naturalist whose textile practice is rooted in ecological connection. Working through foraging, natural dyeing, weaving, and stitching, Kayla creates place-responsive works that bring color, material, landscape, and handwork into close relationship.

Chromatic Ecology
Chromatic Ecology is an exploration of seasonally and geographically specific color, regeneratively foraged and cultivated, and applied to locally sourced fiber. I will be producing a series of plant dyed quilt-like pieces and a woven tapestry to demonstrate the place based palette of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
There will be a free, public event at the culmination of this project on Saturday September 5th from 1:00-3:00pm.
